The unemployment rate in the UK has risen as a result of COVID-19, and the government has launched steps to protect jobs. The surge in unemployment has been greatest among young individuals aged 16 to 24. For better management of work, back office bookkeeping for accountants can be adopted. On July 8, 2020, the Chancellor unveiled the jumpstart initiative to safeguard young people from unemployment, particularly those at risk of long-term unemployment, and revitalize the economy through outsourcing firms and focusing better on business.
The Kickstart scheme, launched on September 2, 2020, is a UK government attempt to create hundreds of thousands of high-quality placements for 16 to 24 claiming Universal Credit. The government will finance 100 per cent of the national minimum wage, including national insurance and pension contributions, for employers working 25 hours per week under the system. The scheme’s major goal is to generate job placements for young people in danger of long-term unemployment and help them build their skills and experience to find work after completing their jumpstart supported employment.
The government would pay employers up to 100 per cent of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) to create work placements for a maximum of 25 hours per week.
The government will only pay for this step if it has been confirmed that a younger individual has begun working and has been enrolled on your payroll to be paid through PAYE. The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) may check you based on information supplied to HMRC to determine whether the young person is still employed and will pay grants in arrears.
The Kickstart scheme is open to organizations based in England, Scotland, and Wales. Northern Ireland does not have access to it.
If an organization creates at least 30 job placements as part of the Kickstart scheme, the employer may submit their application directly.
Suppose an organization creates fewer than 30 job placements as part of the Kickstart programme. In that case, the employer is not authorized to apply directly and must instead register it through a Kickstart gateway or an employer representative.

The Kickstart scheme assists small businesses in developing work opportunities for young people through payroll outsourcing for accountants and will continue at least until December 2021.
